Shared Commitments
Bay Area Community Church: Our Shared Committments

Our mission at Bay Area Community Church is to make passionate, maturing followers of Christ from here to the nations.  At the heart of our church family is the simple, profound conviction that Jesus is Lord ( Col 1: 15-20).  He is on center stage.  All of life is about him.  Transformed by his love and grace, these are our shared commitments:

We Love God Back (Matt 22: 37, I John 4: 9, 10)

I believe that God loves me no matter what sins I’ve committed. His love was put fully on display in the death of Jesus for me.  My love for God is simply a response to his overwhelming love for me.

We Love One Another (John 13: 34, 35; Rom 12: 9-13)

Jesus gives a new commandment: “Love one another even as I have loved you.”  He is that standard of love.  I will seek to love other believers with the love of Jesus.

We Love Our Neighbors (Matt 22: 39, Luke 10: 29-37)

The amazing love of Jesus is radically inclusive.  With God’s help, I commit to love my neighbors (all people I meet) and help them flourish, regardless of their struggles, failures, or backgrounds.  I commit to be an instrument of God’s love through my words and deeds.

We believe that the way to fully embrace and “flesh out” these commitments is in community, just as Jesus and his disciples walked together through the joys, pains and progress of life.  For us to fully live our commitments and take the heart of Jesus into the world, we need each other ( Col 3: 12-17; Eph 4).

I will participate in a community that brings mutual encouragement and accountability to my life.  I will love those in my community well.  I will help my community be known by our love.  And I will actively participate with and encourage my community to go out into the world and make disciples.
