Derek Koomson, our partner in West Africa serves as the General Director of Scripture Union, Ghana. Scripture Union is an extracurricular Christian club, which has a presence in over 80% of high schools in Ghana.  

MISSION:
 
Scripture Union exists to develop disciplined student leaders and build a solid foundation of Jesus-centered leaders who will one day lead businesses, churches, governments and more. Students who participate in Scripture Union graduate high school with a strong foundation of discipleship, evangelism, prayer and scripture reading that will carry them into adulthood and create generational change.

HOW CAN I PRAY FOR THEM?

  • Scripture Union (SU) writes and publishes their own yearly devotional books.  Pray that people will use these devotionals and be committed to daily Bible reading leading to Christ-like transformation. 
  • As covid restrictions are lessening, pray that SU will continue to minister to children and young people in the schools. 
  • Pray for more committed Christian teachers who will work with SU to supervise the SU groups 
  • SU organizes the Christian Teachers Conference annually to equip supervisors for the SU groups in the schools. Pray that God will enable them to revive this vital conference after the ease of covid restrictions. 
  • Scripture Union has been given land to build a Christian camp that will serve hundreds of students. Pray for all those who have shown interest in supporting the SU camp site. Pray that God will help them to be committed. Pray that God will help us reach out to many more students at camp, especially children from deprived communities. 
  • Several SU donors lost their investments during covid. Pray that God will restore the finances of all the Donors of SU.

SERVE WITH US

Join our Ghana Short Term Missions team! In Ghana, you will join a local team to reach out to Junior and Senior high school students. During the outreach, you will get the opportunity to share your personal testimony with an entire school or group. You will also engage in one-on-one conversations with students. You will fellowship with the campers during our summer camping season, sharing your personal testimony and leading small group bible studies and leadership training sessions.
