ay Area Community Church started...

with 18 people in the fall of 1987. In the summer just prior to its beginning, these pioneers met in homes, and then in the Severn School, which we rented. The dream was to build a church that would speak to the modern culture and encourage non-believers to investigate Christianity at their own pace, free from the traditional trappings of religion that tend to chase them away.

After conducting neighborhood surveys, Bay Area decided on an approach to teaching historical Christian truth in a contemporary manner. The church's first service was on October 18, 1987 at the Chesapeake Academy. Over 60 adults attended that first Sunday morning. The church's contemporary style sparked an enthusiastic response. In a very short time, we had outgrown the Academy and had to move to rented facilities at Anne Arundel Community College.

Today, hundreds gather every Sunday morning to worship Christ Jesus our Lord. Bay Area is a church dedicated to serving people. As a result, dozens of programs and ministries have been started in an effort to meet various personal and spiritual needs.

You are warmly invited to join with us as together we grow into all that God wants us to be and do. Throughout the years, Bay Area remains faithful to its motto - You matter to God.
